ABOUT THE ROLE

Footballco is looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Junior Editor to join the Affiliate team. 

Working with the Affiliate Editor, you will edit match previews covering NFL, NBA, NHL, and other US-based sports, write longform sports watching guides, and implement daily strategies, mostly SEO-related, for where-to-watch content on Goal. 

The position is based in the US, fully remote, and will involve working weekends. 

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Edit and manage content production of where-to-watch articles produced by a team of freelancers

  • Write longform where-to-watch articles designed to encourage subscriptions to streaming services. 

  • Work with writers and other editors to help grow traffic to where-to-watch articles.

  • Work with the SEO team to maintain day-to-day SEO best practices on where-to-watch articles. 

  • Research search trends and support other editors to improve headlines and publishing strategy.

  • Partner with audience leads to track KPIs and assist with strategy to identify audience growth opportunities.

WHAT YOU HAVE:

  • 4-6 years of experience in editorial publishing

  • Experience sub-editing/proofreading, preferably in a journalistic capacity

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong copywriting skills

  • Experience using CMS platforms

  • A data-driven mindset and approach to publishing 

  • Knowledge of US sports essential: NFL, NHL, NBA etc
