Renato Maisani Named as new Editorial Director of Calciomercato.com

The current European editorial director for Footballco, Renato Maisani has been appointed as the editorial director of Calciomercato.com, which Footballco acquired in 2021.

Maisani will continue in his current role, which includes responsibility for GOAL Italia but will now also oversee Calciomercato.com, taking over from former editorial director, Giancarlo Padovan.

The appointment will also mark the beginning of Footballco’s management of Calciomercato.com’s editorial content.

Calciomercato.com compliments Footballco’s portfolio of European football media brands which are also overseen by Maisani, including Spox (Germany), Voetbalzone (Netherlands) and GOAL’s other European editions.

Globally, Footballco is also home to Kooora, the most popular sports website in the Middle East as well as women’s football brand, INDIVISA, the youth-focused NXGN and cult football publication, MUNDIAL. Through this portfolio, Footballco reaches more than 800m fans a month and generates more than 1bn video views.

Maisani said: "I am pleased that the company has decided to entrust me with the management of a historically important site for sports information in Italy such as Calciomercato.com. 2024 will be an exciting year for football and the project that we will try together with Footballco to carry forward will be to become the point of reference for the transfer market in Italy, but above all to reach more and more fans through a modern and social channel-oriented approach, giving centrality to the role of video productions and entertainment shows".
