The Commercial arm of Footballco is looking for a football obsessed Account Director, who will nurture and manage a number of our major client accounts. With a dedicated team you will strategically advise clients, ensure campaign plans are activated, reported on and optimised; and be at the forefront of new initiatives across our owned platforms.

If you’ve spent a number of years working in a senior position within an agency, rights holder or brand, delivering digitally and socially led football content marketing campaigns targeting sports fans; and if you truly understand the sports media landscape and the power of social media to engage with fans – then we want to hear from you!


  • Strategy & planning – work with central strategy, planning and creative teams to pull together innovative digital marketing campaigns to hit KPIs

  • Campaign activation – own the activation and optimisation of these campaigns and ensure they over deliver against predefined KPIs within the allocated budget

  • Creative understanding - guide content and creative teams using your understanding of media platform formats and styles of creatives that work best on each platform

  • Stakeholder management - develop a detailed understanding of all stakeholders, your clients ecosystem and build relationships

  • Team management – work closely with the Head of Client Services to build a team and culture that ensures everyone is clear in which direction they are pulling and incentivised to go the extra mile as well as managing and developing junior team members

  • Campaign reporting – keep across all campaigns and make sure timely and accurate reports are delivered to all key stakeholders – highlighting key learnings and insights that will ensure we are constantly evolving and progressing our approach

  • Up sell – always look for opportunities to unlock new projects and briefs

  • Renewals – manage the renewal process ensuing we are perfectly positioned off the back of successfully delivering campaigns to renew

  • Value add - develop ideas that add value to clients both from a business and relationship perspective


  • Extensive experience working in a senior account handling role within an agency, right holder or brand environment preferably in sport

  • Extensive knowledge of sports media, digital marketing and the social media space

  • Experience of working with brands, leagues or broadcasters on social media platforms

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills with the ability to juggle and prioritise multiple clients and tasks

  • Delivering client presentations

  • Managing budgets and invoicing

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Excellent people management and communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels

  • Ability to work across multiple teams

  • A high degree of self-motivation

  • A committed, positive and proactive approach

  • Strong commercial awareness
